Vermicomposting

Students in grade 2 worked with Mr. Morishige (science teacher) on vermicomposting.  Students brought food waste such as banana peels, old cereal, bread crusts, or old lettuce to feed worms.  The worms help decompose the food into vermicast (worm poop!).  The vermicast is air dried for a few days and then it's ready to be mixed into compost that can be used for planting.
