On January 19, 2010, Mr. Brian Hawkins, a NASA Aerospace Education Specialist, explained the history of aeronautics by sharing his Flying Gizmos presentation to the fifth graders at Mililani Mauka. In addition, Mr. Hawkins held a workshop for some science club members on how to build and operate a FPG-9 glider. Other science club members were treated to a special hands-on “Robotics” activity conducted by Ms. Taunya Sweet, a NASA Robotics specialist. Mililani Mauka was one of only a few schools selected to participate in this Aerospace Education Services Project conducted by NASA, after submitting an application in October 2009.
